WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE MONEY RAISED THROUGH THE THRIFT STORES?
The Hospice Shoppes are social enterprises created by Nanaimo Community Hospice Society to provide sustainable funding for the free programs and services they offer to the dying, their caregivers, and the bereaved in our community. All programs are free and open to people of all ages.
DO YOU DELIVER?
We do deliver. The price of delivery is determined at the time of purchase.
DO YOU SHIP?
No - in most cases we do not - however, some exceptions apply.
DO YOU USE VOLUNTEERS?
Yes. We have over 100 volunteers who help sort, price, and serve customers as well as help with other activities behind the scenes. This is one of the reasons we are able to provide a substantial amount of financial support to Nanaimo Hospice. We could not deliver the financial support to Nanaimo Hospice without the dedication, enthusiasm and willing support of our volunteers.
DO YOU HAVE PAID STAFF?
We have paid staff members who coordinate all of the work at our thrift store including recruiting, training, scheduling and coordinating our large team of volunteers. Our staff are creative, inspiring and are essential in running a smooth, clean and interesting thrift shoppe where volunteerism can thrive and grow.
